MSU Bozeman's logo; the blue MSU "M" with the golden flame, Montana State University in blue text to the right.                    MSU Billings' logo; the MSU Billings black "B" outlined in yellow with the bee mascot to the left, with black text to the right reading "Montana State University Billings".                    The logo for MSUNorthern: crimson text reads "Montana State University Northern", where "Northern" is twice as large as the rest of the text". To the left of the text is MSU Northern's icon of three curved lines stacked on top of each other with three more lines sticking out of the top at a slight right-leaning angle.                    The logo for Great Falls College: a shield shaped icon with the simple shapes of two waterfalls within it. To the right of this icon is blue text reading "Great Falls College", which sits above a black line. Undere this black line is smaller text reading "Montana State University".

Data Governance is the "processes, policies, and goals for managing institutional data, typically including policies and standards for data access, data quality, security and privacy, compliance, and retention and archiving. Data governance fosters collaboration, transparency, and communication throughout the institution" (EDUCAUSE). It should also improve efficiency and enable data insights for the university.

Montana State University UIT Enterprise data is undergoing a revitalization of our data governance efforts across the four MSU campuses in Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, and Havre. We are looking for University-wide participation in these efforts, so if you are interested, please email Luke Schalewski, Chief Data Officer.
