Current Users
MSU Users:
On-campus MSU users should use the online sample submission form below or the sample kiosk in CBB 28 to submit samples.
The form below should be uploaded with your sample submission form, and is is essential for small molecule molecular weight confirmation. It should contain sample names, molecular formulas, and structures.
External Users:
External facility users please use the following form to submit your samples. Please fill in all necessary details in the sample submission form. Failure to provide all the necessary background information on the samples can delay the results. Please email the form to the core facility manager before sending or dropping off any samples. External users require a Testing Services Agreement (TSA).
Methods
Protocol Metabolite extraction
We highly suggest de-lipification and de-proteinization to improve polar metabolite analysis.
General up-stream lipid preparation protocols such the Bligh-Dyer, Folch, or Matyash all yield clean aqueous phases for metabolomics analysis. We can help advise you which method may be best suited to your samples.
We also offer a solid phase extraction method for quick removal of proteins and phosphopeptides prior to metabolomics, and requires no chlorinated solvents. Contact us for more information!

Recommended Guidelines for Authorship on Manuscripts
How should we acknowledge or include core facility personnel as authors? (the publication of results and data interpretation provided by the core facility)
Please follow this link to Association of Biomolecular Resources Facilities (ABRF) site on recommended guidelines for including core facility personnel as co-authors in publications.
Publication record is essential to ensure a high-quality core facility and for the professional development of its staff, we ask our users to carefully consider the input of core members to scientific publications.
