The 2025 Great Northern Fair was a huge success and we want to extend a heartfelt “thank you” and “congratulations” to everyone for a job well done!!  It is a huge accomplishment when everyone comes together and works to make our Fair such a great experience for everyone.

         Remember your “Thank You’s”

4-H members that received special awards at the fair, be sure and write a Thank You note to the sponsor.  If you need an address, call the Extension office and we will help you with that.

And of course, please do write a Thank you to your animal buyer(s).  The buyers at the Livestock Sale are an intricate part of making your 4-H year a success.

And be sure and thank that special 4-H leader or member or even a parent or grandparent who helped you along the way in getting ready for this year’s Fair.  A kind word means a lot!!

Fair Ribbons / White Shirts

Do you have fair ribbons sitting around the house getting in the way?  This is the time to collect them and donate them back to the 4-H program.  The ribbons must be clean, not written on the back and in good shape.  If you would like to donate your ribbons back to the 4-H program, drop the ribbons off at the Extension office.

We are also asking for your too small white shirts to put in our stash for next year.  If you would like to donate your white shirt so someone else can use it next year bring it to the Extension office.

Herdsmanship Winners

Congratulations to the Bear Paw Beaversand Kremlin Hawks 4-H clubs for being chosen as the Herdsmanship winners at the 2025 Great Northern Fair.  At the 4-H Year-End Celebration, Bear Paw Beavers as the small club will receive a $50 cash award and Kremlin Hawks as the large club will receive a $75 cash award for their efforts in keeping their areas of the barns clean and spiffy.  Job well done!!

What is a Montana 4-H Ambassador?

Ambassadors are youth that are engaged in LEADERSHIP, SERVICE and PROMOTION of the Montana 4-H Program.  A 4-H Ambassador is an official envoy, an authorized representative of our Montana 4-H Program. A 4-H Ambassador is a self- motivated, enthusiastic leader who promotes 4-H using the skill, knowledge and leadership abilities acquired in 4-H with fellow members, area residents, community leaders, elected officials and non-4-H youth. A 4-H Ambassador serves to strengthen the 4-H program through public relations. Being an Ambassador is an honor and privilege. Being chosen as an Ambassador entails the acceptance of “great” responsibility and a total commitment to the Montana 4-H Program.  We are seeking 4-H members who are not afraid of people, work, or the time it takes to create success.

To be an Ambassador for Hill County requires a commitment of time, money and enthusiasm.  The Ambassadors work on a team which consists of the County Extension Staff, Ambassador Key Leader, Senior Ambassadors and Junior Ambassadors.  The county 4-H Ambassadors will have the opportunity to serve on both the district and state levels as officers.  Thus, opportunity to extend their service beyond the county level is available.

All Ambassadors are eligible to attend Fall Ambassador Training, State 4-H Rec Lab and 4-H Congress where they receive additional training and put their skills to use. In addition, Ambassadors may attend other special events throughout the year.

– How to Apply –

To apply, please fill out the Ambassador Application (in typed form) and submit it to the Hill County Extension Office by Friday, September 12, 2025 by 5:00 p.m.  No late applications will be accepted.  Current Ambassadors are asked to update their information on the Application form.

Ambassador Prospect Qualifications consist of the following:

*Must have a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.5

*Must be responsible and have time available to fulfill the role

*Must be 14 years of age by October 1, 2025 and not have yet completed your sophomore year in High School; and

*Must have been enrolled in 4-H for at least 2 years and be enrolled for the upcoming year.

If you are curious and want a bit more information, please contact one of our current Hill County 4-H Ambassadors – Madelyn Myers, Cadence Kallenberger, Kami Scheele, Miriam Carroll, Carina Purkett or Savannah Schaumloeffel.

Please note that if you are chosen as a Junior Ambassador, it is a 2-year commitment. Funds for this program are limited, so you may be responsible for some out of pocket expenses.

Ambassador Applications can be picked up at the Extension office or will be available in Zsuite on August 15th.

The 4-H brand tells the world who we are and has a great impact when used correctly.  The 4-H brand uses a precise 4-H clover in a certain color.  Specifics on approved logos and colors can be found at www.montana4h.org/resources/4-H_brand.html.  If you are making a flyer and need logos or clip art sent to you, we are happy to do that.  Call the Extension office to make that request.

s 4-H Emblem

The national 4-H emblem is a four-leaf clover with the letter "H" on each leaf, denoting Head, Heart, Hands and Health. The four-leaf clover signifies "Good Luck."

Head, Heart, Hands and Health represent the four values members work on through fun and engaging programs.

4-H Colors - Green and White

Green is nature's most common color and is emblematic of springtime, life and youth. White symbolizes purity and high ideals.

4-H Motto

4-H Pledge

I pledge...
my Head to clearer thinking,
my Heart to greater loyalty,
