The ASMSU Supreme Court is composed of seven student justices who are nominated by the ASMSU President and approved by the ASMSU Senate. Justices serve on the Court as long as they remain eligible ASMSU students.

The Supreme Court is responsible for interpreting and reviewing the ASMSU Constitution and Bylaws, considering student appeals, and overseeing ASMSU elections. The Court serves an important role in ensuring ASMSU’s governing documents and processes are followed fairly and consistently.

For questions or assistance, contact the Chief Justice at asmsucj@montana.edu.

The Supreme Court meets every week on TBD, excluding holidays.

Meet YOUR Student Supreme Court

Andy Watanabe

Andy Watanabe

Chief Justice

Hi Bobcats! My name is Andy Watanabe, I’m from Park City Utah, and I’m currently a
sophomore double majoring in Psychology and Political Science. After graduating I hope to go
to law school and study administrative law. On top of being an ASMSU Supreme Court Justice
I’m the vice president of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity on campus and an avid volunteer at Heart of The Valley animal shelter. In my free time I love skiing, biking, and skeet shooting. It’s important to me that our generation uses their voice to influence the changes they want to see
and I’m honored to represent our student body as a member of the ASMSU Supreme Court. I’m
open to hearing any opinions or new ideas from our student body so feel free to stop by and talk
about your concerns in the SUB 221!

Nick Willett

Associate Justice

Hello Bobcats! My name is Nicholas Willett, and I am a 24 y/o sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering Technology. I am a non-traditional student; after high school in  Billings, I obtained my EMT license and started working as a Firefighter EMT. After this
chapter in my life, I wanted to start college, so I worked night shifts as an anesthesia tech at a trauma center, and during the day I attended MSU Billings. After hearing of programs and  opportunities at MSU I decided to transfer to Bozeman and enroll as a full time student. I  am now involved in AFROTC, BOREALIS (which is a platform for performing experiments in  the upper stratosphere), and I am also an officer in The Society of Physics Students.  Outside of school, you can find me cheering the loudest at Bobcat sporting events. I believe that advocation is important and a strong student body starts with strong leadership. I am incredibly proud to represent my fellow Bobcats! Reach out and swing by SUB 221!

Caleb Szajkowski

Associate Justice

Hello everyone! My name is Caleb Szajkowski, I’m a freshman here at MSU studying Political Science, History, and French. I hope to pursue Law School, either with a focus on international law or immigration law. I am passionate about student engagement here on campus, and that’s what attracted me to the ASMSU Supreme Court. When I’m not working with MontPIRG, Campus Civil Rights, studying, or the court, you can find me in Cooper Park with a book or climbing! Ultimately, I believe that real change begins with real involvement, and that each and every student brings valuable and integral perspectives to the conversation surrounding politics,  our community, and our campus.
