Description of Request

Submitted By: Chemistry Biochemistry Department

Dr. Heather Callaway is the new incoming Director of the new Cryo-EM (cry-electron microscopy) Core Facility located in the basement of Chemistry Biochemistry Building (CBB). Callaway has been hired to oversee this new facility that was established with $3M+ in funding from the NSF, Murdock Charitable Trust and MSU’s Office of Research and Economic Development. Because Dr. Callaway will be director of this facility, it is important that her research space be located within the Chemistry Biochemistry Building. Furthermore, Dr. Callaway will need to share research equipment located in the labs of her colleagues within the same building.

A recent retirement has created a lab vacancy in CBB 244. A portion of the space is shared with other researchers, and due to limited space within the building, sharing of the space will be required amongst the parties until other reasonable space opportunities arise.

Resolution

Date: August 4, 2023

Space Management Committee has approved the allocation of the lab in CBB 244 to Dr. Heather Callaway.
