MSU Office of Academic Affairs Accreditation Team Office Space-Culbertson Hall
Description of Request
Submitted By: Steve Swinford, Vice Provost for Curriculum, Assessment, and
The accreditation team is entering the initial phase of preparation for MSU’s Year 6 (due July 2023) and Year 7 (due July 2024) report submissions to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). In the past, this effort has necessitated dedicated space to collaborate and conduct meetings, collect artifacts, compile paperwork and locate individuals working on the reports in close proximity to one another. With the planned move of the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) out of rooms 114 and 116 in Montana Hall, the Office of Academic Affairs has requested this space to better facilitate their ongoing efforts to support accreditation and assessment activities. However, the timeline for that project has been extended and the space will not be available to accommodate the immediate needs of the accreditation team. Therefore, alternative space is being requested on a temporary basis to accommodate the team as they begin the accreditation process. Several vacancies on the 4th floor of Culbertson Hall can accommodate the team’s needs; rooms 418, 420, 424.
This two-year process involves almost every unit on campus. This request will assist in minimizing disruption to other ongoing activities, or potentially displacing students from spaces dedicated to instructional efforts. After the visit, the space would continue as offices for the personnel identified above and the space for the continued accreditation, program assessment, and program review work that occurs throughout the year.
Resolution
Date: November 4, 2022
Space Management Committee has approved the office allocations as described above. Should the originally requested space in Montana Hall become available during the accreditation process ends, the request will be brought before Space Management Committee for consideration at that time.
